Dr. Kari Tilli

Kari TilliDirector, Telecommunications and Electronics Industries
Tekes - Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation

Dr. Kari Tilli is responsible for Tekes’ funding of industrial R&D projects and for managing Tekes’ technology programs for telecommunications and electronics industries. He is cur-rently responsible for the Tekes’ programs GIGA - Converging Networks and UBICOM – Embedded ICT, which address the future mobile and broadband communications technolo-gies and applications as well as embedded systems and ubiquitous computing. He is also managing co-operation between Tekes and the Strategic centre for science, technology and innovation in the field of ICT. He is also dealing with international R&D co-operation in the European Union’s Framework Program, EUREKA, and European Space Agency. He is the Finnish lead delegate in the Governing Boards of both the Artemis and Eniac Joint Undertak-ings and is the head of the Finnish delegation to the Council of the European Space Agency.

Before appointment to his current position, he worked in Tekes as Director for Information technology and Space technology as well as Director of the Finland Technology Centre in Boston, USA. He was Finnish delegate in the EU ISTC committee during the 5th Framework Program. He completed his Doctor of Science (Technology) thesis in the Department of Technical Physics at Helsinki University of Technology in 1982.

 

Dr. Pentti Haikonen

Otto.Dr. Pentti O A Haikonen is a full adjunct professor, University of Illinois at Springfield, Department of Philosophy. He has studied machine consciousness for over twenty years and has written the books "Robot Brains; Circuits and Systems for Conscious Machines" (UK: Wiley, 2007) and "The Cognitive Approach to Conscious Machines" (UK: Imprint Academic, 2003). He has also brought his thoughts forward in several international conferences. Dr. Haikonen has 14 patents in the fields of signal processing, associative neurons and neural networks.

 

Prof.dr hab. Ryszard S. Jachowicz

Ryszard S. JachowiczDoctor Ryszard Slawomir Jachowicz has been full professor in Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) since 1991 and he has been appointed for tenure position since 2000. Since 1997 he has been also the head, Microsystems and Measurement Systems Division (with 20 persons), Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, WUT.

Prof.Jachowicz’s main scientific interest is focused on sensors development (mostly thin-film and semiconductor sensors) and microsystems. He is working on new measurement methods, new microsensors and microsystems constructions, their fabrication technology and modeling. His main interest is in humidity of gases measurement (sorption sensors, dew point detectors), moisture content in solids, pressure and flow of gases and flow of liquids measurements. He has been also involved in development of multiparameters measurement methods, smart sensor interfaces (back-side contacts, wireless interfaces, others). During last few years he initiated and conducts researches on the microsystems for medical application.

Prof.Jachowicz is an author and co-author of 14 patents and 176 papers in scientific journals and reports on scientific conferences (where more than half of them were published abroad in English language), where among them are 15 invited lectures and 7 of them presented on international conferences and 4 were keynote lectures for opening sessions of international conferences (last one on IMTC, IEEE, May 2007).

 

Dr. Kim Hong

Proferssor Kim Dr. Hong Kim is the chairman of the industrial & Academic Collaboration Foundation at Hoseo University. This organization executes practical education answering to the demands of industry and fortifies the cooperative network between different industrial units. Dr. Hong Kim has established many pioneering reforms, such as the Hoseo graduate school of Venture, the Hoseo graduate school of Entrepreneurship as well as the Technology Business Incubator Center at Hoseo University in 1995, which was the first business incubator in South Korea. Due to his efforts for the advancing the education of entrepreneurship, he was awarded the president’s prize in the Entrepreneur Festival Korea in 2008.
